What is the history behind your job at Telespazio (Which decisions, interests or events led you to the position you are in today)?

For the last 10 years I have been involved in the development of Air Traffic Control systems for different European countries. At the end of 2015, I moved to Germany, where Telespazio provided me the opportunity to work directly with the German Air Navigation Services Provider (DFS). Currently, I am working as Service Manager for the iCAS project.

What does a typical workday for you look like?

My duties include the analysis and resolution of observations as well as collaborating in the preparation of appropriate test procedures. In this phase of the project, also first-hand support during validations at the Control Centre is required.

What do you like about your job? What makes it so unique for you?

Working together with the final user, the air traffic controllers. This first-hand feedback is an opportunity to understand the system from another perspective besides making my daily work very rewarding.

What has been your highlight so far?

The iCAS project became operational at the Karlsruhe Upper Control Centre at the end of last year, 2017. Before the launch, there were several operational validations with scheduled nights and weekends when the air traffic was really being managed by the iCAS system. I would say that my professional highlight was the night I entered the ACC room while the first airplanes were being controlled by iCAS for the first time.

What do you perceive as a strength of Telespazio?

From my point of view, the strength of Telespazio is the variety of exciting projects in which we are involved as well as the diversity of nationalities amongst the employees, which enriches the working environment.

With which three keywords would you describe Telespazio?

Constant growth, exciting projects and friendly atmosphere

For the interview process, I would recommend to be relaxed. I am sure that the people who are going to do the interview will try to make you feel comfortable.
