Vladimir – Spacecraft Operations Engineer

Hello, my name is Vladimir. I am working as a Spacecraft Operations Engineer in the European Space Operations Centre in Darmstadt. As a part of the mission control team, I am responsible for the ESA satellite OPS-SAT1 Space Lab. The purpose of the mission is to run experiments in space – almost like the International Space Station, only without astronauts.

You can see the real-size demo model of our satellite in the picture (right). Despite the size, it has run dozens of experiments and spearheaded many firsts!

How did your journey with Telespazio start?

I studied computer science and at first, I worked as a software developer. At some point in my career I really wanted to start doing something exciting with my profession. Space projects in Telespazio perfectly fit into the “exciting” category. Since then, my dream was to do spacecraft operations and fly the satellites myself – this dream came true in 2020.

Which three words would you use to describe Telespazio Germany?

Space – Friendly – International

What is your favourite part about working at Telespazio?

The smart and motivated colleagues in our amazing team and of course, our OPS-SAT satellite!
