Valispace and Telespazio VEGA Deutschland join forces

MoU signed to collaborate on unique Software-as-a-Service solution for Commercial Space

05 April 2019

Valispace and Telespazio VEGA Deutschland, a subsidiary of Telespazio (a Leonardo and Thales joint venture), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to link their complimentary software solutions for spacecraft modelling, simulation, and data management. The resulting tool will provide on-demand solutions for customers through the lifecycle of spacecraft design, mission analysis and operations.

Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), or “on-demand software”, allows space businesses a refreshingly new way to manage spacecraft development and operation using subscription services and cloud computing. According to independent market studies, over a thousand companies are anticipated to launch in the coming decade with commercial space products and services; the dynamic needs of these businesses, where short timescales and rapid development cycles prevail, call for agile services. Shifting from a licensed product to a software platform enables companies to do more with greater simplicity, and to pay exclusively for what they use only when they use it– therefore designing, testing, and operating their space assets efficiently.

Combining Telespazio’s modular SaaS solution for operations related simulations and Valispace’s collaborative engineering SaaS platform, customers can seamlessly model their spacecraft, run operational simulations, and store the results for further re-use and documentation. Both companies believe that together they can provide a comprehensive and innovative solution for space businesses.

About Valispace GmbH

Valispace is a browser-based software tool that allows engineers to collaboratively develop better spacecraft. By implementing Data Driven Systems Engineering (DDSE), it reduces the hardware development costs by > 15%. It achieves this through the digitalization of non-CAD data, browser-based collaboration (SaaS) as well as complementary integration to common simulation -, PLM/PDM and MBSE tools. It supports interdisciplinary teams throughout the engineering lifecycle, from requirements management, throughout the engineering lifecycle, from requirements management, through detailed design up to automatic verification.

Among others, Valispace is used by companies such as Airbus, DLR, Gomspace and OHB Luxspace. It has been named in Forbes as one of Germany’s 100 most innovative Start-ups 2018, has been featured in Wired and Techcrunch and won multiple start-up awards.
