The Position

The Head of Division is responsible for the management and coordination of the Division and the development of its business activities. A strong focus will be on the customer relationships and development of new concepts and ideas to grow our business in ICT Engineering Services.

The Division is part of the ICT and SatCom Solutions and Services Department. The Heads of Divisions will be working closely together with the Head of Department in leveraging Telespazio Germany’s and Group’s expertise, brand and presence to grow the business in existing and new markets.

You will be responsible for the Division and staff management, financial planning & budgeting and development of the business activities.

This position is based at our Headquarter in Darmstadt. It is full-time and permanent and expected starting date will be around March 2022.

Responsibilities/Duties

In particular, your key tasks and responsibilities are:

  • Leadership and supervision of the staff working in the Division, e.g. staff deployment, staff development, salary policies, regular appraisal process, training needs, leave monitoring, compliance to company rules and labour law, etc.;
  • Be the Division point of contact for Department Head and Human Resources for issues specific to the staff (e.g. staff deployment, staff development, salary policies);
  • Meet regularly with the staff and Clients in order to review the quality of running services and identify future trends;
  • Overall management of the contracts carried out in the Division according to the contractual requirements and in line with the company internal processes;
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for the clients and industrial partners; reporting to the clients as required;
  • Dynamically manage staff allocation to projects, ensuring the highest level of staff utilisation but at the same time ensuring that resources are available to handle peak loads and to support new business opportunities;
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the projects within the Division, and the capabilities of the staff;
  • Communicate regularly with the industrial partners, in coordination with the Project/Service Managers where applicable, on any issues related to the projects they are working on;
  • Service Delivery/Project Management if necessary to bridge the gap;
  • Plan and ensure the growth of the Division in line with the Division/Department/Company strategy and targets;
  • Develop and implement the Division’s short-, mid- and long-term business strategy;
  • Develop and implement the Division’s portfolio of value-added solutions and services with focus on ICT infrastructure/cloud engineering and cybersecurity;
  • Drive product, solution or service developments to complement the Division’s offerings and secure internal investment funding by development of sound business plans;
  • Develop, implement and manage the Division’s operational and delivery capabilities and processes;
  • Establish networks, partnerships and (strategic) agreements for current and upcoming (major) opportunities with relevant clients, partners and suppliers;
  • Support Sales & Business Development organization in identifying opportunities, developing new business, preparing proposals and negotiating new contracts;
  • Lead the business development of the Division’s accounts;
  • Identify, develop and exploit synergies within the Department, with other departments/divisions and within the Telespazio and Leonardo Groups;
  • Responsibility for the Division's order intake, revenue stream and profit margin;
  • Budgeting, monitoring and reporting the Division’s economic parameters;
  • Provision of inputs for the Department financial reports and budget;
  • Manage, monitor and plan the Division’s financials (revenue, P&L, margins) and ensure a reliable financial reporting and forecasting;
  • Ensure all administrative data is tracked and timely processed, with the support of the Company Administration, e.g. invoicing, debtors’ control, timesheets, reports, etc.;
  • Reporting to the Company Management, respectively the Head of Department;
  • Participate in regular company internal management and technical meetings;

Qualifications/Experience

  • A university degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications or similar field (or equivalent);
  • Experience in managing complex ICT related services/projects;
  • Experience as a Service Delivery Manager;
  • Experience in people management;
  • Experience in conflict and negotiation management
  • Strong experience in subcontractors management;
  • The successful candidate will have strong goal-oriented and planning capabilities, coupled with very good problem-solving and interpersonal skills and a pronounced customer focus;

Essential Skills

  • You have strong experience and understanding of Profit & Loss calculations (revenue, gross margin, etc);
  • You have strong experience with managing teams;
  • You have experience in mission-critical environments;

Desirable Skills

  • Large Corporate / System Integrator / Managed Service Provider working experience;
  • Project Management Certification (PMP, Prince2);
  • ITIL Certification;
  • ISO 27001 Certification;
  • Experience with (some of) the following technologies: Hadoop, VMware, OpenStack, OpenShift, Kubernetes, Cisco ACI, Docker, IBM portfolio;
  • Familiar with SOC environment and solutions, Security management platforms, Threat intelligence platforms, Cyber security penetration testing and audit;
  • German language skills.
