The Position

You are passionate about embedded software with an appetite for spacecrafts and their missions - the job of your dreams would be a meaningful opportunity to combine both ambitions? Then you are on the right track!

We are growing our embedded software capabilities and are currently supporting several projects requiring embedded software. We are searching for someone with an embedded software background to be able to grow our capabilities and seek new challenges within our international team.

This position is based at our Headquarter in Darmstadt. It is full-time and permanent and expected starting date will be September 2021.

As a member of our multi-national team, you will be designing, developing, and maintaining efficient and reliable OBSW code for different space missions. The position includes developing software for satellite subsystems as well as maintaining existing software. As a part of a dedicated team with excellent expertise in both software development and the space domain, you will have the opportunity to develop your career.

You will identify bottlenecks as well as bugs, and devise solutions to these problems by assuring the functionality of the systems. You will help maintaining the code quality, organization, and automation. You will translate the customer needs into delivered features, and become proficient in estimating and defining your future tasks.

Show us what you have as a C++ Developer!

You have a strong proficiency in C/C++, with fair knowledge of the corresponding language specifications and with shown experience. You know how to develop code for embedded platforms and you are familiar with standard template library and its containers. You know object orientation, and can draw and understand class diagrams in UML.

You are well acquainted with development tools such as debuggers, profilers, and tracing utilities. You are excellent at problem solving, with a logical and pragmatic demeanour.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Design, develop, document and test software in C/C++ that you and your company can be proud of.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Degree educated SW Engineer
  • Some experience in working in a team as working student or staff member

Essential Skills

  • C and C++ programming language
  • Embedded knowhow
  • Object oriented programming and design using UML
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • It is required to hold an EU Citizenship

Desirable Skills

  • PARC processors (ERC32, LEON 2,3,4)
  • RTOS (e.g. RTEMS)
  • Ada programming language
  • Hardware in the Loop test benches
  • Spacecraft Operations including ECSS-E-70 (Packet Utilisation Standard)
  • Spacecraft Database, e.g. expressed as SCOS MIB or EGS-CC CDM
  • Linux command line, Source Code Control System (Git), Maven
  • Debugging, static and dynamic code analysis
  • Continuous Integration processes and tools
  • Automated testing using CppUnit or similar
