The Position

We are looking for a skilled software system engineer to drive our Integration, Validation & Verification activities in System V&V service for our customer EUMETSAT. You will be working in a team of experienced engineers and will need to interact with both client and subcontractors for formal deliveries and for specific knowledge needs.

Your daily activities will have be very diverse, since: First, the service has a multi-mission character across various Copernicus missions. Second, your tasks span different phases of the software development life cycle, starting from engineering/development down to the full spectrum of IV&V activities. Third, depending on current mission needs, you will e.g. also contribute to special activities, e.g. validation test campaigns.

This is a challenging role, combining strong organizational and IV&V skills with hands-on experience!


The position is based at our head office in the Europahaus in Darmstadt with occasional presence at EUMETSAT premises. It is a permanent full time position with an immediate starting date.

  • Coordination: planning and coordination of I&V tasks;
  • Engineering Activities: focused mainly to the preparation and contribution to the technical documentation related to I&V activities (VCDs, engineering and I&V plans, test specifications, test procedures, etc);
  • Execution of Integration and Verification Activities: performing the corresponding integration and verification testing campaigns according to the agreed plans;
  • Contribution to Validation Activities: support EUMETSAT on the validation of systems when performing the corresponding validation test campaigns.


  • University degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science or other relevant discipline.

Essential Skills

  • Proven ability in IV&V of complex software systems;
  • Requirements and verification management;
  • Formal testing at component, facility and system level;
  • Hands-on experience in creation of test cases, including documentation and their execution;
  • Proficiency in English.

Desirable Skills

  • Having worked within the European space industry environment;
  • Confident working with Linux (including e.g. server administration, shell scripting);
  • Hands-one experience with relational databases: MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL;
  • Knowledge of ECSS standards for software development.
